The first thing you notice upon entering The Dining Room is the lovely warm ambience, matched by an equally warm welcome. The spacious interior's muted colours harmonise with smart furnishings, mellow lighting and relaxing music to create a calm and contemporary feel.

We deliberated over a seasonal menu that retains old favourites, such as a variety of Welsh beef steaks, whilst also including more adventurous dishes, like my tomato mille-feuille with buffalo mozzarella, hummus and truffle oil, and my partner's scallops with linguine, black pudding and a roast garlic and lemon chutney. Both dishes were testament to the skill and creativity of the kitchen team.

Mains saw a fillet of hake with crab risotto and a citrus dressing, and pan-fried pork tenderloin with balsamic roasted beetroot and a currant jus, accompanied by a side of silky mashed potato. Each plate put before us was beautifully presented, portion sizes were generous and both the hake and the pork were utterly flawless. Although now full, we could not leave without trying the tiramisu - a truly exquisite finale. Throughout our meal, the service was spot on, our glasses kept topped up with a robust Australian shiraz.

Whether you feel like tucking into the Sunday carvery or enjoying something from their bistro-style menu in the planted beer garden, The Dining Room offers excellent value for money. We'll certainly be stopping by again soon
